Luxurious Cheating

October 17, 2008

I went to the beach last night.  Our house may be old, creaking, leaking, desperately in need of serious repairs (and cleaning), but it’s home.  I finished moving into my bedroom while roommates wondered in and out.  Two of the guys even came home from a strip club to see me, which I thought was sweet in its own way, despite their subsequent imitations of the girls.  It’s almost like college again, except this time around, there’s coed living, much better alcohol, and no problem sets.  Also, down pillows, flannel sheets, and cool ocean breezes.  Such luxury.  It was so relaxed, I forgot entirely about the vegetarian chili with soy cheddar I was supposed to have for dinner, and ate peanut butter & jelly crackers instead.  Still, I’m betting I only consumed about 500 calories, which is probably okay, right?

Thankfully, the house is about 3/4 of a mile from the train station, so I got a baby workout walking there and back.  And I walked to the office from Penn Station this morning, adding an extra mile.

Why isn’t Tasti-D open at 8am when I walk by and want ice cream?  That just sends me to the nearest store in search of sweets!  Did you know Tastykake makes sugar-free cupcakes?  And Duane Reade carries them?  Apparently, I was still very sleepy this morning when I made the purchase, because while two cupcakes have only 180 calories, they also have 10g of fat.  Ouch.  I think I have more walking to do, because I want to eat the whole box.  Still the whole box is better than a muffin and pumpkin latte from Dunkin Donuts.

Today, my office is going out to lunch.  I’m going out with them.  This diet is nonsense.  I know what healthy food is, and how to eat it without getting fat.  This weekend, I’ll be at the shore, and I’ll be barbecuing with the best of them.  Still, we’re having ab pictures taken today, so I guess I won’t go totally overboard.  I do love the definition I’m getting.  If I flex really hard, there are two tiny muscle dimples.
